13 May [24.5.1] The Guide of choosing your suitable eco-friendly packaging
This article is written for customers who are new to environmentally friendly-packaging, Nicer Packaging Team aimed let people know what are the suitable materials for their cosmetics in shrot time.
It's essential to tailor recommendations based on customers needs, budget and preferences. Here's how I would approach providing suitable recommendations:
1. Your cosmetic product types and characteristics: understanding your products’ type and characteristics is crucial in selecting appropriate packaging. For instance, if customer's product requires high-temperature filling or hot filling, I would advise against choosing PLA packaging, as it's not heat-resistant.
Here is the quick reference of eco-friendly material for different packaging type:
- Soft tube packaging eco options: Paper/plastic soft tube( Year 2022 New tech but not suggested to choose cause lacking of practical market application cases and the high cost ), Sugarcane, PCR-PE(Cost-effective), Wheat Straw/corn starch( our factory currently only can do 2 layers), etc. the above material is list according to the cost, from high to regular.
- Bottle packaging eco options: PCR-PET, PCR-PE, Wheat straw, PLA, PMU, etc,
- Jar packaging eco options: PCR-PET, PCR-PP, Wheat straw, PLA, PMU, etc,
- Box packaging eco options: Paper, FSC certified is more expensiver.
Note: PCR, short for post-consumer resin (post-consumer recycled), maily from PE, PET, PP, etc, In order to provide a more specific analysis of the basic material, we will include its essential material after PCR, like PCR-PET.
2. Packaging Budget: The customer's budget is another important consideration. Some eco-friendly packaging options comes at a higher price, while others aree more budget-friendly, our sales would provide recommendations within the customer's budget range while balancing the relationship between eco-friendliness and cost, customers can refer to the price in our webstore as the unit EXW price of bulk orders, and the MOQ information in the “product pages’ “additional information” column, we also welcome you to send inquiry for the updated best price.
Note: If you find the MOQ is far beyond your needs, we suggest you to trun to regular material packaging, like the standard glass packaging in stocks to help you to start, need more support, please contact our sales.
3. Customizability: Understanding whether the customer requires customizable packaging is key. Some eco-friendly packaging option have higher minimum order quantities for customization, they may be not suitable for customers startup. Nicer Packaging considers the customer's needs and recommend appropriate levels of customization.
Quick reference customization MOQ of different eco packaging as below:
- PCR tube/bottle : they start from 5,000 pcs/design.
- Wheat staw tube: it starts from 10,000 pcs/design.
- Wheat straw bottle: it starts from 2,000 pcs/design.
- PLA bottle/jar: they starts from 5,000 pcs/design.
- PMU bottle/jar: they starts from 10,000 pcs/design.
- Paper box: it starts from 2,000 pcs/design.
(the MOQ also affected by the exact finishing that customer needs)
The low MOQ enables the customer to customize their packaging without being constrained by high minimum orders. Whether they need specific branding elements, colors, or design features, they can achieve their desired customization without overcommitting to large quantities.
We would recommend customers to take stock plain eco-friendly packaging if the order quantity is much less than the above suggestion.
4. Market Positioning and Target Audience: Considering the customer's brand positioning and target audience is also crucial. If the customer aims to attract more environmentally conscious consumers, We would recommend more representative eco-friendly packaging options, such as PLA or Sugarcane. If the customer's goal is to balance environmental friendliness with cost-effectiveness, we might suggest choosing PCR packaging.
5.Future Development and Sustainability: Lastly, I would consider the customer's future development plans and sustainability goals. Choosing eco-friendly packaging is not only a current decision but also involves long-term strategic planning. Therefore, we would provide recommendations with long-term sustainability in mind to ensure that the chosen packaging aligns with their future direction.
By considering these factors comprehensively, we can offer customized recommendations to the customer, helping them select the most suitable eco-friendly packaging for their needs and values.
Last but not least, in some situation, environmentally friendly material packaging also has limitations, such as high prices, only PLA material can degrade 100%, and its durability is not as good as brand new materials, such as PCR packaging. Conventional material packaging has been popular around the world for over a century, such as glass packaging and plastic packaging. From our perspective, many conventional materials, such as PP plastic packaging and glass bottles, are sustainable and environmentally friendly packaging because they can generally be recycled well. In short, the packaging solution that suits one's own situation is the best.
